From glitzy and glamorous balls to donning shorts, t shirt and a funny hat!
The history between the Covent Garden Tenants’ Association goes back a long way and it’s a partnership that has a great bond. Gary Marshall, Tenant Chairman has been behind the fundraising activities from the very start and he worked closely with the late Anthony Nolan Chief Executive, Steve McEwan. From the beginning of the partnership the Association has worked tirelessly to fundraise and help grow the donor Register, with many of the tenants and staff volunteering to join the Register hoping they could be that all important match for an unrelated patient.
Putting the ‘Fun’ into Fundraising is never an easy feat, but the Association does it with aplomb – organising a Ball each July where everyone gets the opportunity to have a great evening whilst raising thousands for charity. Challenge events are also in the calendar and each year a team turns up at the Wimbledon Dragon Boat Regatta and thrashes it out amongst 25 other teams all getting seriously wet and paddling furiously for the finishing line! Winning or loosing the Association walks away with several trophies including the one for the highest amount raised at the event.
Whatever the fundraising activity, running the marathon or 5 a side football competition, a huge effort is made by each and every person involved from the Association. Anthony Nolan is extremely appreciative of the dedication and effort made by everyone in years gone by and looks forward to working with the Association for many years to come.
