Aila's searching for a lifeline

Aila AhmedAila Ahmed is 3 years old and urgently needs a bone marrow transplant. She suffers from aplastic anaemia and her only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor. There will be huge difficulties in finding a match for Aila and other patients like her. That is because she is of mixed race descent and there are not enough donors from similar backgrounds on the Anthony Nolan Register.

This is an urgent appeal to all communities to come forward and find out more about becoming a bone marrow donor now. Click here for more information about joining the Anthony Nolan Register.

Aila’s father, Ali, says ‘We need to save the lives of children like Aila as they are the future of this world. It is a true gift to give life’.

Sabina Raza, a bone marrow donor states: ‘For me, it really wasn’t that big a deal: it might be a little bit of pain but nothing compared to what the person’s going through, who’s really ill, really suffering. It’s humbling – to know you can help so easily.’
