Location: Finchley, London N3
Date: Saturday 7 March 2009 – 9pm to 3am
The Anthony Nolan Trust is pleased to offer you a fundraising event with a difference. Dare you spend the night at this imposing grade II listed building?
This is your chance to explore Avenue House! This mid Victorian mansion set in beautiful grounds can trace its roots back to the Knights Templar’s in 1243. In 1312 it belonged to the Knights Hospitallers until their estates were seized by Henry VIII in 1540.
Skip forward to 1859 when Rev. Edward Cooper built a villa on the site which later became known as Avenue House. It was bought in 1875 by Henry Charles (Inky) Stephens, son of the inventor of the famous blue-black ink. When the Rev. Cooper died in 1918 the house was bequeathed to the people of Finchley. Locals may remember the building being ravaged by fire in the late 80’s; however the Mansion has been brought back to life with an extensive and sympathetic refurbishment.
The Mansion has a very unique history and you will get the opportunity to learn more about its history with a guided tour and the opportunity to check on its resident ghosts! You will work with our experienced paranormal investigators, resident medium and try your hand at using psychic equipment whilst searching for paranormal activity: we hope you have a night to remember!
This event is for adults aged 18 years and over. Places will be booked on a first come first served basis. This event is not open to pregnant women. If you have a disability please discuss your requirements with the event manager prior to booking.
