The British Gas Great Swims are one-mile open water swims taking place in four different locations in the UK.
No matter what your swimming ability is, the Great Swims are a brilliant challenge for all. Over 10,000 swimmers took the plunge in 2009, from an 86 year old granddad to a middle aged mother of three with a fear of deep water, to soap stars and Olympic heroes.
