Many people and organisations have supported the charity by allowing us to host a bone marrow donor recruitment clinic – but we need to be offered lots more opportunities.
Bringing a clinic into an organisation or the local community can have benefits for everyone.
For us, it not only raises awareness of our work and the need for more volunteer bone marrow donors but it can also provide a way of reaching our three main target audiences: young donors, males and people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. Most importantly it helps us to recruit healthy, well-informed and committed potential donors.
For you, it’s relatively easy and very rewarding; and it's a great way of bringing people together. Your organisation or group can demonstrate its active support as part of the wider community.
Can you think of any organisation:
- Your employer
- Local colleges/universities or clubs
- Local health centres
- Armed Services
- Any organisation that may be happy to help us host a clinic?
Corporate donor clinics are a wonderful way to build on existing programmes encouraging staff in citizenship and community support programmes, we can work with your company to run a successful donor clinic and inspire the staff!
The following are tips and ideas on how best to help us promote a clinic.
Word of mouth – Talk to people; tell them who we are, what you’re doing and how they can help. The most effective way of promoting anything is by word of mouth.
Posters, leaflets and business card flyers – We can provide you with all of these for any clinic, all we ask of you is to put them up or hand them out for us.Notice boards, waiting rooms, pubs, sports clubs, even toilets!Wherever you think an 18-40 year old person would go is where you should go.
Banners – Large outdoor banners are available to promote a clinic. If you know a place where one could be put up, please let us know.
E-flyers – If you have access to the Internet, e-flyers are a great way of letting loads of people know about a clinic.
Internet – If you have or know anyone who has a website, why not ask if they would put a link on it to the Anthony Nolan website? It couldn’t be easier.
Headed letters – Nurseries and Primary Schools are all great places to promote a clinic. If a school is able to help by sending home letters to parents, then just let us know and we will put the letter together.
If you think you can help us in any way, please either contact 020 7284 1234 and speak to a member of staff from the Head Office donor recruitment team or contact one of our Donor Recruitment Managers directly to discuss this further. Our Donor Recruitment Managers are based throughout the UK and would be your ongoing point of contact should a donor clinic be feasible.
