1990 Building work started at the Royal Free Hospital in 1990 and The Anthony Nolan Round Table Laboratories were fully operative by late that year.
1991 HRH The Duchess of Kent, GCVO becomes Patron of The Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust. The determination of the Trustees to improve the success rate of transplants meant that new accommodation had to be found for an enlarged research team, and fundraising began.
1992 Regional Appeals Offices opened in Scotland and the north of England, focussing on raising awareness and fundraising in communities across the entire British Isles.
1993 Such was the expansion of the our work that in 1993 our head office moved out to a new development called Heathgate, Hampstead, London, fortunately only half a mile away from the laboratories. Southern Regional Appeals Office opened in Oxfordshire. The Register reaches 200,000 volunteers.
1994 The Anthony Nolan Register reached 250,000.
The 1,000th Anthony Nolan donor was provided for transplant. The World Marrow Donor Association established
1995 The Register reached 275,000.
After four years of fundraising, work started in 1995 on a purpose-built research building.
1996 In January of 1996, the Anthony Nolan Research Institute was opened officially by our Patron HRH, The Duchess of Kent, GCVO. Since its inception, The Anthony Nolan Research Institute has become a centre of excellence where research is carried out to improve the understanding and practice of transplant technology.
Our Northern Ireland Appeals office opened in the same year.
The African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust is founded to recruit donors from within the African Caribbean and other minority ethnic communities. The Sue Harris Trust is founded to provide the same service within the Jewish community.
1997 2,000th Anthony Nolan donor provided for transplant.
1998 For the first time in a single calendar year Anthony Nolan provided over 300 donors for transplant. The Register reaches 290,000.
1999 We celebrate our Silver Jubilee. The Register reaches 300,000.
