The number of volunteer unrelated donors on the Anthony Nolan Register is increasing every year.At the end of 2007, there were 390,000 donors on the Register.
The number of donations provided from Anthony Nolan Trust donors per year is also increasing.
2007 was a record year with 368 volunteer unrelated Anthony Nolan donors providing haematopoietic stem cells for patients in need of a transplant.
Of the 368 donations in 2007, 223 went to patients in the British Isles (UK and Ireland), and an additional 145 were donated to overseas patients.
An additional 43 donors provided lymphocytes for patients.
The Anthony Nolan Trust also imports donations from overseas donors for patients within the United Kingdom.
In 2007 we imported 241 volunteer adult haematopoietic stem cell donations, 20 lymphocyte donations and 77 cord blood donations.
